Physical-Therapy-TestimonialWith the name Apple Physical Therapy, it goes without saying that physical therapy is the primary service provided at Apple. All of our clinics have physical and massage therapists on staff; our larger clinics have PTAs and OTs. Our staff of occupational therapists is growing, however, due in large part to our hand therapy and work conditioning programs. Opportunities at Apple are vast for all therapists that work here.

Take the time to review our corporate values and you will see that we actively live by our values and that this is reflected in everything we do. As a therapist at Apple, you can practice on a broad range of patient diagnoses with a wide variety of treatment approaches. Generous continuing education, mentorship, and an evidence based practice approach ensure that we provide the best of care to our patients.

We provide a friendly, fun, learning environment. You will truly feel a part of a team making a difference in your patient’s lives! Our bi-annual corporate meetings and parties/picnics will keep you engaged in the larger Apple community. With our community-based charitable events and sponsorships, you can also become a more active participant in the area in which you work. Apple is a great place to set your career.

Clinical Education Programs

Core Curriculum
Apple Physical Therapy has created an internal core competency clinical education program that reflects and reinforces our clinical approach. The year-long program is comprised of five (5) modules:

  • Evaluation Skills
  • Exercise Prescription
  • Manual Therapy Skills
  • Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
  • Clinical Management of the Injured Worker

The courses are taught by Apple's senior clinical staff and are the best preparation for the rehabilitation of a broad patient population.

Through the Core Curriculum, all therapists at Apple Physical Therapy develop and refine a clinical approach that emphasizes exercise and manual therapies. In general, the approach is traditional and scientifically based. All therapists at Apple must complete this core curriculum. The entire program is funded by Apple and no fees are required.

Continuing Education
The Core Curriculum program is supplemented by a company funded continuing education program that allows every employee to choose and participate in various workshops/seminars each year. Apple funds several hundred continuing education courses each year. The range of coursework is vast and builds on the foundation created by the Core Curriculum program.

Apple University
Apple Physical Therapy sponsors various courses throughout the year, bringing in nationally recognized and local instructors to further the clinical expertise of the staff. Apple's Education Program Manager coordinates the courses and selects instructors and topics based on feedback and interest expressed by our therapists. Some of these courses are open to therapists, regardless of their workplace. However, many are offered exclusively to Apple Physical Therapy’s team of therapists.

Study Groups
Apple Physical Therapy designates time for employees to participate in various study groups. The study groups are led by Apple's senior clinical staff and focus on specialty topics in a variety of areas.

Residency and Fellowship Programs
Apple Physical Therapy is the exclusive clinical residency and fellowship partner of Evidence in Motion (EIM) in the Puget Sound region. This partnership allows us to offer both residency and fellowship programs with a national reputation for quality; programs that are respected throughout the profession. The programs consist of mentored learning, classroom study and on-line coursework.

Evidence Based Practice
Apple Physical Therapy’s evidence based practice (EBP) team is comprised of therapists working in several APT clinics. These therapists scour the literature and write user-friendly reviews that are circulated electronically to all therapists and therapist assistants, and then stored in an on-line repository for future reference. The EBP team insures that all therapists at Apple are provided the most recent and relevant clinical information.

Clinical Affiliations
Apple Physical Therapy serves as a clinical education site for over 60 Physical Therapy schools around the country. Our staff consists of many highly experienced therapists who enthusiastically share their knowledge with affiliating students. Students who affiliate with Apple treat patients on a One-On-One basis, are invited to all internal education programs and have continuous One-On-One time with the clinical instructor. (If you are currently looking for a clinical affiliation and Apple is not already an approved education site by your school, please give us a call. We would be pleased to contact your school's clinical education coordinator and make arrangements to serve as a host site)

Outcomes
At Apple, every therapist receives a personal outcome report each quarter based on our ongoing outcome study. The results allow therapists and their managers to determine each clinician's strengths and weaknesses, and facilitate the focused planning of future educational objectives.

One-On-One
There is no question that Apple's One-On-One philosophy helps create an optimum learning environment. We ask that therapists average a little over one patient per hour and we prohibit any "double-booking.” Each clinician has the time to focus on each patient and has the opportunity to consult with fellow therapists throughout the course of each day. There is time for collaboration and adequate time to do the best work possible.

A Three Part Process

Part 1
After receiving your initial inquiry, you will have a phone conversation to answer any and all of your preliminary questions and to set up a visit at our clinics. Also, we want to make sure that you know all of the current openings and that we understand what you are looking for. For example, we would want to know what geographic region is of greatest interest, the types of patients you like to see, what type of supervision you prefer, your clinical interests and learning objectives, whether you like smaller or larger clinics, etc.
Getting to know you helps us customize the next two parts of the interview process.

Part 2
The next step is an administrative interview. The interview provides all therapists with a understanding of Apple’s operating philosophy and an overview of the company. The interview is intended to ensure that every applicant has a comprehensive understanding of the company, and the clinic or clinics of interest. Important issues such as benefits, pay, licensing, sign-on bonuses and potential start dates are handled at this stage.

Part 3
The final and most important step is the interview with the clinic manager(s) as the clinic(s) or interest. (If more than one opening exists, applicants are encouraged to visit as many clinics as they choose.) This portion of the interview includes a sit-down discussion and the opportunity to “shadow” various therapist while at work. The job shadow permits applicants to see the clinic in action and offers the best chance to ask highly specific questions of any member of the clinic’s team. This type of comprehensive exposure to the clinic at work yields a wealth of information that can’t be gathered during a formal sit-down interview.

The Goal
By the end of the interview it is our hope that each applicant will have all the information required to make a decision about Apple Physical Therapy. We understand that selecting an employer is a critical decision. So, we try hard to get you all the information you want. Indeed, once the interview is over, we remain on call to answer any questions that might arise in subsequent days.
